Every since we got a couple of Nexus 7 tablets our young children have shown a keen interest in them from practising phonics for reading, doodling on a couple of paint programs to watching "In the Night Garden" on YouTube.
Unfortunately they also seem to stumble into Google Play and Gmail much too easily. I have already set up a PIN on Google Play to avoid unwanted purchases but I am wondering what, if anything, others have done to lock down tablets for children.
The multi-user update for JellyBean arrived the other day so one optioned seemed to be to set up other users on the tablet for the children so they see only things installed as that user but that seems not to be so simple as Google won't create an account for anyone under 13. Is it possible to use the multiple users feature with some of the user concerned not having a Google account?
What about extra apps specially designed for parental control - has anyone tried one of these and how well did it work?
