chime sound

my phone makes a chime sound every so often but theres no message or anything going on. Very annoying at night if you need your phone handy. how do you make it stop.
 
You may have visual notification turned off but audio notification turned on. It could be happening via system settings, your messaging app (default or 3rd party), Gmail, email, etc. Next time you hear the chime, open each of these apps to see if there is a new message or email. Then go into that apps settings and look for notifications. You should be able to adjust the visual and audio notification setting there.
