My smart phone can't transfer things to the laptop and vice versa. But it changes from the laptop. What can be the problem.

what do you mean "but it changes from the laptop"? can you explain further? do you have an sd card? is this where you are trying to backup on your pc? what are you trying to transfer?
...and what is chimz???????
Try another USB cord. Be aware that some USB cords might be wired for charging only, and not data transfer.
