Chinese tablets

So i was thinking on buying the flytouch 3... but then found the zenithink Z102 that's apparently cheaper and better? But then there's apparently clones of everything and nothing is what it seems?

I'm so confused... i'm looking for something at 150 euros tops, can someone suggest anything? Or at least help me narrow it down.

They can be great tablets, only if you buy from a sellers that pre mods , test and does any updates needed to make them fully work.

I went that route with Frank at FLsuperstore.com

Doesn't cost much more to keep you from having to do all that your self.

So the hardware itself is solid, it's the firmware that usually gives you problems? I live in Portugal by the way, would love to hear of some options for the European market.

Welcome to the Android Empire duuude :)

OH YES you can get some pretty darn good stuff with that money ;)

Here are some very good brands to look out for!

Amazon.com: Arnova 7 G2 4GB: Computers & Accessories (Archos Brand In a nut shell)

Ainol launches the NOVO7, the world's first Android 4.0 tablet, for $100 plus shipping -- Engadget

(Ainol is very very very underated ;))

Ainol Novo 7 Advanced Tablet PC 7 Inch Android 2.3 Dual Camera 8GB 2160P HDMI Black

And ONDA is also very very good

Onda Vi30W Android 4.0 ICS Tablet - Merimobiles.com - Allwinner A10 Ice cream sandwich ColonelZap - YouTube

AND don't forget "Teclast" :)

Sorry man, i should have mentioned it but i'm looking for something with around 10 inches. I'll be using this to study so i need a fairly big screen to spare my eyes.

No worries!! ;)

Then yes, your best bet is either the Zenithink z102 (It is upgradeable to Android 4.0)

OR

your other bet is to get the Arnova 10 g2 very very nice machine it will have updates and support for quite a while:= I think because Archos is not too shabby when it comes to this:

Amazon.com: Arnova 10 G2 4GB: Computers & Accessories

About 180 Yankee / American Dollars

So I think that is maybe close to 150 Euros???

How close is 150 Euros to 180 USA Dollars?

Not too far or is it more?

Hmm I think there are also others out there that are 10 inches flavour but I just can't remember them all right now

:/

Any reason in particular why you're not considering the flytouch 3? Or any of the other superpads for that matter.

There's also many other zenithink models... THIS IS SO CONFUSING! ;_;

Yes, if you are capable of doing updates and such yourself, you can go ahead and buy it from anyone you wish.

But for a few bucks more id only get one that is pre tested and updated before you get it.

So glad I ran into Frank over at slatedroid.com where he is a sponsor.

If you can stretch a bit more, then the Onda Vi40 I have seems to have support. At that price, other models also come into play. A bit early to tell, but I think Onda have a good history with MP4 players and updating.

Comes rooted with ICS 4.03.

I would check out the hardware and reviews. I made a list of what I wanted (10" IPS" 1024x768 etc.) and what I could live without/add (GPS/3G) and then went for a company that had some semblance of support.

Personally, In Europe, and as you're clearly on a budget and can't afford a mistake, I'd buy locally, including the internet, as you'd get a better guarantee and chance of refund/return if you get a lemon, whatever you choose.

I think, as always, you get what you pay for and many people have bought the cheapest and regretted it. Even here in China (where I teach) the sellers quote "firmware upgradable" but when searching, you find a "clone" is not the same as another and firmware updates can be impossible to find.

There's a wealth of information out there, and the Android community is a great resource. My tablet has no following yet, so maybe you could look for a device that has an active following and development. Then, you'd know where to go for help. If unsure, a device-specific commuinity can also point you in the right direction to check you are getting what you think you are. :)

Good luck in choosing.

David.

How do you think the Onda fares vs the ZENITHINK Tablet C91 ZT-280 (Android 4.0, Cortex - A9, capacitive 10" 8Gb 3G WIFI)

I can get both at around the same price, but the Zenithink comes from a more trusted source. Even if the Onda is superior do you think it's worth the extra risk and headaches?

pretty clear since its top of the page.

you can see he sells two verison, one with a down graded OS and ICS with warning that its not his fault if apps don't work.

ICS is bug city and two new.

The Onda is a fairly nice tablet but expensive. But you won't be able to find them cause there's a shortage of 9.7" screens. You could get a Zenithink C91 which has a 10" widescreen and does the same thing the Onda does for about $30-40 cheaper. The Z102 is a good tablet for the price but it does not have a capacitive screen. There are a lot of 9.7" tablets coming out but none of them are being produced on a mass scale because Apple is buying up all the screens.

The Zenithink C91 has a new version coming out with 1GB Ram and the new Amlogic chip. Going to be a sick tablet and also you aren't taking a step back into 4:3. Even though the IPS screens pop they still are using old technology.

F&L Superstore buys direct from Zenithink so you won't get ripped off buying a clone. www.flsuperstore.com

Have you tried finding an HP Touchpad? I believe CM9 is running on it pretty solidly. Might be best to check eBay for one that's already been modded.
