Choosing a cheap Android phone

Hello, I've recently started to develop Android apps and I need an Android phone to test them. I'm looking for a cheap phone to test simple apps.

I can get a pretty good discount on Samsung phones because of my work so I've been looking at Samsung Galaxy Mini, Samsung Galaxy Ace or Samsung Galaxy Gio.

Is there any reason for me to NOT get one of those phones? I've heard people complain about slow CPUs but is that really that noticeable?

I would just choose the one that runs on the most up to date version of android if its only for testing the apps. No point in developing an app then not being able to test because your using an outdated version of android.

Samsung promises to update all Galaxy phones to the latest OS version. I don't know how far they are though.

Buying an Android phone with a weak hardware will not allow you to test certain apps that are based on Adobe Flash or Air for example. I would suggest to get a second hand Nexus One instead. It is more capable than those Samsungs and is ideal for testing apps.

Huawei IDEOS X6 is a nice phone .It has the Scorpion V7 processor which means flash support !! . Samsung has pathetic hind service .If new batch of phones release in next 6 months ,they will knock your phone off the upgrade cycle.

HTC Wildfire S / LG Optimus One / Orange San Francisco aka Dell XCD 35 aka ZTE Blade make a fine choice in the V6 processor category.

But yes if you get a second hand Nexus One ,go for it !!
