Choplifter Anyone?

Anyone remember the old game called Choplifter? I have searched on the market for a while (when I think about it), well.. occasionally, and I have yet to find anything. Does anyone know of a game that is like Choplifter but goes by a different name?

For those who are not aware of the game, the purpose was to fly your helicopter from the starting point (aircraft carrier or army base) and fly down to the other side of the map (side scrolling - 2d) and pick up your buddies who are running around helplessly. As the stages progressed you would have to shoot the places that held your buddies (little huts, prisons, whatnot) to free them. Then as they run around you land to collect them and then bring them back to the base.

Of course the challenge is that you could only hold so many people at once and as the game progressed the bad guys would start coming around, shooting you, your buddies, or whatever.

It was an extremely fun game at the time (1980's) at the arcade and in today's world I would think that something like this would have already existed since it is such an easy game to code in flash or whatever.

Anyway.. if anyone knows of anything I would appreciate some help pointing me in the right direction. Thanks guys (and gals)!

I agree. That game was really fun. I too have been searching for something like that. I tried a few semi-clones but none of them could not compete with the original gameplaying. The best so far seems to be `Helicopter Rescue`. There is also a game that tries to clone and refine the original. At the moment I can`t remember the name though. What it does is an attempt to add a dimension so that it`s actually in 3D. I must say that I'd rather keep the game 2D as nothing compares with the simple yet genius idea in Choplifter 2D. I guess it`s just a question of time before we have a fullworthy clone. Ok that is all I know. Please PM me if you are successful.

I think I remember playing that when I was like 4 on the sony or sega handheld I had, was great fun.

Couldn't you play it on an emulator?

Legally you cannot do that. However it's possible if you dare beeing disobedient and run N64oid for example. I'm pretty sure there is something similar on almost any computer or gaming console.

Yeah, wouldn't want to get fined or locked up for playing a ROM on my tablet. Best delete my ROMs now.

There's one called Choplifter HD in the Play Store. The original designer of Choplifter was a consultant on its development. I got it on sale for $2.99 it's usually $4.99. So far it's worth it. The graphics are gorgeous on my Note 3. I'm not sure if the price cut is still in effect though?
