Chrome for android?

soda

Newbie
lol today i was thinking, why is there no Chrome for android... or if there is enlighten me. I just love the feel of the browser... would make a cool browser for android but an even cooler theme.

Can you imagine the confusion that would ensue if the mobile browser had multiple tabs?

I think it might be desireable if implemented in a orderly way ...

Let's say you click menu and rather than trying to look through a slew of open window squares as you do now .... you are presented with a list of the windows opened with their page titles to select from ... click to select that page; Long press on a listed item and it allows you to delete it, Bookmark it, send as ..., etc. Close All would be very welcome !!!

IMHO i think that would be much more efficient and snazzier than what we have now ...

.

google.com/m has multiple tabs (kinda) I use it daily.

FYI - Chrome 1.0 is just that as noted. There is a Chrome beta program. I figure that Google Android Engineers get sneak peaks at things and like Microsoft in the days of Windows and IE will have a good shot at making Chrome work well on Android.

I'm with you on that one.

Also, I was under the impression that it's not Chrome on the G1? Unless the useragent is different or something, it's webkit with modifications and google gears?

What is the user agent string for the built in browser? Can anyone confirm? Steel nicely allows the user to set the user agent, but I have no idea what the "android" string is, as I have no web server to test on. I could install Apache but I'm inherently lazy tonight.

I'll check it really quick and edit to let you know.

Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.1; en-us; dream) AppleWebKit/525.10+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version 3.0.4 Mobile Safari/523.12.2

Checked on RC33/G1

Now that we know what it is, I'm fairly interested to know the version differences/changes between RC33 and cupcake... hmmm :D
