Chrome - how to switch between open tabs after update?

Garnett

My carrier sent an update today which I've installed - overall it seems great - good improvements in ergonomics and performance.

However, Chrome no longer functions as it used to.

Previously I could view all my open tabs by swiping down on the visible tab and then selecting the icon that looked like a stack of papers.

Now that's gone.

I note that if I hold down the central button (on my Samsung Galaxy S4) instead of getting a list of all recent apps, I get recent apps, AND open tabs, but that's a bit more drawn out than before.

To the right of the address bar is there a box with a number in it? On my chrome I tick that to bring up the tabs selection method. The number represents the number of tabs open. I can swipe to the right for incognito tabs.

That wasn't the Lollipop update, was it? Android 5.0 does (by default) treat recent Chrome tabs the same as recent apps; that is, they'll show up in the list of recent apps. You can change back to the "classic" tab style within the Chrome application settings.

If not Lollipop kindly disregard :D

Yeh, that's how it used to work. But now that's all gone. The only way I can see is to hold down the hardware button, bottom centre on the S4. Very odd.

I don't use chrome but I'm glad they made that feature optional. I don't even have a button mapped to recent apps.. Never use it :thumbsupdroid:

Go to settings (the 3 vertical dots on the top/right corner),

Scroll Down to SETTINGS.

Un-check the little check box
that says "merge tabs" .
