I have a php app which use JWPlayer to serve up HTML5/mp4 videos. They play great on my Asus tablet using Chrome or Dolphin. However, on my desktop (Windows/IE9) I get a right-click context menu on the video with the option to 'Save File'. On my Android there is no context menu (i.e. hold down finger on video).
Has Google indicated whether this video 'Save File' feature will ever be available?
To prove this is not JWplayer specific I converted from JWplayer to just using an HTML5 video element directly. Similar result: on my desktop Chrome displays the 'Save Video as' option but on my Android Chrome does not display a context menu. Why would Google create Chrome with this disparity in behavior?
The presence of 'Save File' on desktop systems annoys a lot of content providers and is one reason Flash is going to continue to be used by the premier content providers. (Yes, I know you can download basically anything with various apps so it is essentially a false sense of security with Flash.)
