Help Circular trackpad pointer on Honeycomb 3.2

Has anyone found a use/purpose for the circle splitting in two if two spread fingers are used on the trackpad? I was hoping that perhaps it could be used to select ranges of files/icons similar to the shift key on a pc.

It zooms/rotates like it would if you were touching the screen in google maps.

its just a visual representation of the multitouch recognition, so that you can see on screen where the extent of your touch is relative to the trackpad.
