Claims to have 16gb but down to 10gb already how?

So the phone comes with 16gb but i know thats not the case cause of the preloaded apps it comes with but im down to 10.97gb total space and available space 10.49gb which i quite dont see how as i only have 278mb applications,20.00kb audio,and miscellaneous 23.88mb?

What you see available is what you have left. What you don't have the system (Jelly Bean) is using.
No different than a computer hard drive. The entire drive is never all yours. The system )OS) needs some of it to operate.

Indeed. Think of a windows PC. Windows takes up a good 10GB of the drive. More if it has been on there a while. OK, so you can clearly see that easier but then a windows PC is a lot easier to re-install if you accidentally find a way to wipe the windows files. Hiding the Android ones is highly sensible.
