I cleaned the screen of my new Galaxy s with water. Not sure if that is OK ?

I use a microfibre cloth which i find to be ideal. Not sure if using water to clean your screen is a good idea.

Its not good to use water on Touch Screen and especially a Capacitive one which is on SGS. It could damage the screen. It is clearly mentioned in the manual that the screen should not be brought in contact with water. RTFM!!!

Yes, as stated you should definitely not use water to clean it. A microfiber cloth is ideal. The screen has a good anti-smudge coating so wiping it off with such a cloth makes it look like new.
