Help Cleaning up the home screens on an Archos 70

I'm loving my Archos 70 tablet, particularly after getting the full android market, and google apps, on it.

One niggle though is that I find it a real pain to sort out the home screens. If I try to drag an icon for an app I don't use to the bin, (an easy task on my HTC desire), 95%+ of the time it will open the app, rather than let me move / delete it.

Is there a trick to it? Is there an alternative way to do it?

I don't know if anyone else has had this issue but I have found that if I pressed too hard on the screen, the same thing would happen to me. Don't press on the screen so hard and see if that helps ;)

I am thinking of getting this but the downside is no full android market (AppLib looks crappy). How did you get around that issue? Appreciate your sharing.
 
The market is no different from any other app.

You know how to install stuff on your windows machine right? You download the setup.exe into a thumbdrive, stick it in the target machine, and then use windows explorer to run it.

It's exactly the same on the archos (except it's an APK instead of EXE). Just use the stock file browser. There's absolutely no hacking involved.

If you've gotten APK's from... ahem... *other* sources, just do the same thing. Doing it this way is referred to as "sideloading"

Yep, I was a bit nervous, but it is trivially easy to do. I found the required fix on the archos fans forum, downloaded it using my tablet, ran it, rebooted, and the google marketplace app was there and working.

Just remember to do the market fix after you install the google apps. If you don't, some apps on the market won't show up.
 
I got onto Android Market by adding the ArcTools app from Appslib. It's high up on the 'free popular apps' listing.

PS. Looked at this thread because I thought you meant literally. Mine collects cat hairs in the corners and finger grease everywhere.
