Help Cleanup Contacts

I initiate the entry of new contacts on my PC in Outlook and then use a program called gSyncit to transfer them to Google Calendar/Contacts relying on the Sync feature on the phone for the final transfer. For some reason I have about 100 more contacts on my phone than I do on my PC. This apparently happened during the switchover from my Droid X to the RAZR HD plus some not so successful attempts to get Outlook entries to show up on my phone. I'd like to start over by erasing all on the phone and downloading again from Google but I don't know where Contacts are located on the phone.

If you have a gmail acct go to Gmail>contacts on your computer and clean up your contacts then sync your mobile device to your Gmail acct and you should be good to go. Merely removing the duplicates from your Gmail contact list should help a lot.
BTW I stopped using Outlook a long time age, it's junk, forget it and move on. I have over 700 contacts and have no problems anymore.
If I may, one more tip, I use DialerOne as my phone dialer and never touch contacts (People) on my phone, you can simply enter 3,4,0r 5 characters of the first name, last name, or phone # and the name will just pop up. Then just tap the name and the contact info page from your contacts is displayed.

Thanks, I tried that but somehow I still got even more duplicates. In the end I elected to download a csv file of contacts from my cleaned up Outlook file to Google mail and then sync to my mobil.

I've considered dropping Oultook but I have 15 years of data that I occasionally use but one day it will be necessary.

man, I don't know about that app, but you need to also consider Verizon Backup Assistant at this point... is it enabled and syncing your contacts? This will change things :). I had overlap between this and my Google contacts so that under People I had far too many joined contacts which weren't even the same person. So either Vzw backup asst. or Google merged even similarly typed contact names. I had a Jennifer co-mingled with a Jen (not the same person) showing different #'s for each but both as separate people 'entries' but each would show BOTH phone numbers in each entry! So I disabled Vzw backup asst., both on my phone and on my Vzw account. It can be a nightmare if you have hundreds of contacts... Backup Asst. and Google don't play well when syncing, it's just a complete mess, no easy way.

If you switched over from a different phone and that was syncing through Vzw backup ASSistant, and these contacts had more entries that carried over to your current droid, then this is one possible way you'd have more contacts existing on your current phone. Assuming you were syncing more entries than your Google contacts alone. And yes, my scenario above would also add to your entries even though the data would be redundant.

Check Accounts under Settings on your phone to verify what accounts are checked off to Sync and what items, like Contacts, Media.
