Clearing 2.3 update notification off status bar?

I have decided not to download the 2.3 on my optimus s, but I cant seem to keep it off my status bar.The update notification pops up almost every other hour, and every time I turn my phone on. How can I keep the update notification off my phone for good?

1. Go into the "More Info" page of the update.
2. Immediately pull the battery.

That should stop any future update notices. (It worked for me, my family, and many others here on this forum.) Your phone has probably already downloaded the update, so if you want to free up about 85MB on your SD card, delete the filed named "update.zip" located in the top level of your SD card's directory.
