Clearing application data

Why is it that when I go to Settings-Applications-Manage applications I can clear data for all pre-installed apps but for the ones I downloaded from Android Market? I really need to be able to clear data for some apps that I'm using and as it is know I have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling them. Other people who have the same apps, though on different phones/android versions, tell me they have a clear data button. I have a Sony Ericsson xperia x8 with android 2.1.

welcome to AF, you might want to try Cache Cleaner NG from market and you can set it to clear the specific or all apps on your phone.

On my DC EP4 w/ Gingerbread 2.3.6 I had to root (15min) then install Fileslick (awesome file manager down to R/W root dir)

Now all bloatware, pre-installed factory crap apps & other unwanted apps are gone.
