clearing unwanted locked app

Lurker
So i just recently got my phone and my friend told me about a "alternative app store" where all there games were free... so i went there and downloaded a game called anomaly warzone earth hd... it required a secondary file be downloaded also... the "app store" was called 4shared... i found out it was illegal to download apps off it so i deleted the game... however, the "bonus file" under the same name is neither appearing on my apps list but under the "all tab" in settings under apps (uninstall function is blacked out) ... nor in my google play account. I would prefer not to factory restore my phone... but if i must what will it delete (i want to keep my music, my pics, my vids, my contacts and my account links)... the unremovable app has these popups that lead me to browser link advertisements and its getting annoying... i want it gone... is there something that im missing? :(

Greetings zzzdrake,

I don't know what device you have, but I'll try to help you here.

Lets see if that unwanted app is being tricky.

1. Press the menu button for you device and select system settings.
2. Under system settings look for security option
3. In the security menu, look for Device Administrators selection.
4. Look and see if the unwanted app is here and checked marked.
5. If so, uncheck mark the app, and then see if you can uninstall it.

Since I don't know what device your using, it's kind of hard to say what a factory reset will or wont erase. Anything saved to your phones internal memory will be deleted during a factory reset.

If you have a separate SD memory card installed, then anything saved on it will be fine. If you have a Google account that syncs with your device, your contacts should be backed up, and will re sync when you re-connnect to your Google account after a factory reset.

You can usually do a manual save of your contacts by going into your contact app, selecting the menu option and exporting your contacts to your phone. You will want to make sure that the exported file goes to your SD card. If it goes to your internal memory, you will have to use a file manager to move it to your external SD card.

The playstore will also have a account of the apps that you have download..(downside of this is the fact that it has a link to EVERY!!! app you have ever downloaded for the app store.)

Sry i forgot to mention the phone... it was a droid razr but that doesnt matter bow cuz i just followed the admin instructions and it totally worked! Thanks a ton from a newbie to this smart phone stuff xD also the app i was looking for didnt appear in the app play store... not sure why but meh xD thanks again...
