ClickIQ - Toughts?

So, a co-worker of mine saw me using my phone, and let me know about CarrierIQ (I named it wrong in the title). I had never even heard of this but the idea of it is...disturbing. For those that never heard of it like me - it's basically a 3rd party app that runs silently on your phone all the time collecting data from your phone including calls, texts, emails, passwords, apps opened, etc...and supposedly sends them to their own servers from your phone and there's no way to see the running service to stop it from your phone .

For those that DO know what this junk is - do you know is it something that comes on this phone? And has anyone figured out how to get rid of it? On one hand - I'm like who cares? It's most likely computers analyzing all of the data anyway, not people. And on the other hand - I'm sort of peeved at the thought of apps being put on consumer phones without our knowledge of it and with no way to remove it. So I guess it is what it is, but it's still wrong...and I hope the company gets sued for invading privacy of consumer without their knowledge.

Has anyone actually done this that could give clarification on how to do it? I've never flashed a phone before and don't want to brick my phone, but want this junk off my phone. Help!

Carrier claims it's only collecting performance data, not any keystrokes or tracking data; and the data is only seen by the phone providers.

A little creepy, but probably not anything to get crazy about. You can install a different kernel, but that seems a bit much for most phone owners.

and now a guy in a long video shows its collecting EVERYTHING. Glad I removed that program once the phone was rooted

Settings>running apps>(Android) settings>stop. You need to do this each time you reboot your Epic Touch. Sprint says an ota fix is on its way.

Contrary to the carriers and CarrierIQs claims that its only used to improve the network, an article I read showed the companys datasheet advertising it as a way for the carriers to increase revenue by reporting on individuals usage styles, by recording buttons pressed and screens transitions
