Root clipboard

I'm assuming you are just trying to copy/paste some text?

Once text is copied to the clipboard, you simply paste it in the location you want.

I don't think you're meant to see the actual clipboard, and I think it gets overwritten every time you copy something new.
 
Usually, when you long press on a field to paste, you'll see a pop-up with the options of "paste" or "clip tray". Selecting clip tray slides the tray out so you can select any of the items in the tray to paste. After the tray slides back in, there will momentarily be a little tab with an arrow on it at the side of the screen. Tap to slide the tray back out again
