Clock Timer flawed?

So, on my LG G4, I could set the timer (in the clock app), turn off the display or use other apps, and the timer would ring at the right time. With my new V20, if I shut off the display, the timer stops. If I look at the timer app again, it'll continue counting down from the point that I left it.

Is there a setting that I should be using to get this to work right?

Don't have an answer on what might be wrong but my v20 works as you desire so maybe something is wrong. Try a battery pull.
