Root ClockworkMod recovery ported!

ClockworkMod Recovery is ported for us! Life for us and our phones just keeps getting better and better!
ClockworkMod recovery
My phone seems to go faster, doing what he said about switching cache and data to ext4 and system to ext2.
You don't need any other files to switch the formats like this. (which means no more flashing the recovery.rfs!!!)

Ok Coop, I downloaded the zip version of this. Do I just put it in the zip folder and apply from zip like everything else? Old retired guy needs a step by step guide. I couldn't follow Couga's how-to. Since I just got my phone up and running ubuntdroid and all sexy, I don't want to jack it up with this.

Yessir. Just put it in the sdx/zip folder and flash it from the recovery you already have. Next time you go to recovery, it'll be the ClockworkMod

I thought so, but I'm a bit skittish right now after I fcuked up my phone last week. What kind of quadrant scores are you seeing now?

8.8 MFLOPS
For some reason my quad has gone down. Probably because I switched to the Puma kernel over the crUDkernel.
It was at 540 with the crUDkernel, like 400 now....

Something isn't right here. I put everything as suggested and my quad scores dropped to 338. I installed Puma V2 kernel and it went up marginally. I put everything back to ext2 and I hit 513, a personal record. Why would Vamp's recovery and ext4 give me such higher quad scores than Clockwork Mod split between ext2 and ext4? My personal opinion is that splitting between ext2 and ext4 sounds good on paper but is confusing our poor phone. If someone has a better idea, please share. I'm going to play around some more today and see if I get better scores with everything ext4 or some other combination.

Ext4, original custom recovery, Puma v2, and advanced JIT, stock Froyo.

Turns out that EXT2 is much faster than EXT4. Scoring a 553 now that I converted back to EXT2. EXT4 is safer because you're less likely to get corrupt data but EXT2 is faster.... Decisions, decisions.

Sorry Cooper, but a phone is unstable. It can reboot randomly if not enough RAM if free'd by the kernel when needed, and battery does die. That equals corrupt data and a sad you. Use EXT2 for other partitions other than system and data.

I've gotta back up The Android here. Remember not so long ago when we were waiting for Froyo and hated our phones? I'd guess we would have had quad scores in the 100's. A stable 300+ with ext4 is really quite acceptable. I switched mine back from the sexy 500's to the stable 300's and really don't notice much difference speed wise. Just my $0.02.

I agree, there isn't much of a difference. I think I know what is causing the lower Linpack scores though. Bad 3D graphics. It seems like the test runs much more smoothly with everything set to EXT2

Oh yeah... that 3D graphics driver I have yet to obtain for our phones... =.= To SDX I go.
