Root ClockworkMod Recovery with new microSD card

I'm getting a new microSD card for my Triumph and I'm wondering if I will still be able to boot into CWM after switching SD cards. Basically, was the recovery.img saved on the phone's internal memory or on the SD card? Also, if I copy and paste my nandroid backup from my old SD card to my new one, will I still be able to successfully restore it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

All the OS information and Recovery is stored directly on the phone so switching sd cards should have no effect. And yes you can just copy and paste everything from your old card to your new one .

I just copied my sdcard to the pc, formatted the new card on the phone then copied everything onto it. Seemed to work well. Formatted in CWM to add 2nd partition I should say.

Went from an 8gb to a 32gb, less than $23 shipped from amazon.
