Root CM 10.1 Tutorial (ROM credit to g60madman)

Hey everyone, I will be showing you all how to get CM 10.1 (Angry Bean) for your EVO V.

This is for newer S-Off/root users, if you want the basic thread, just go to the dev's post: http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/696924-rom-angry-bean-cm-10-1-build-4-9-13-a.html

First off, this is what my phone personally looks like with CM 10.1 (Angry Bean)

Alright, so there is my phone. In order to get yours to look like this, I am assuming you already have all of these, but you are going to have the following:

- S-Off
- rooted
- Unlocked bootloader
- hboot build 1.50

In order to get hboot build 1.50, (after having your phone S-off) you are going to want to follow step 2 here: http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/695161-s-off-root-fix-everything-all-in-one.html

You do not need anything else.

We are going to be using g60madman's Angry Bean.

You are going to need 3 files to flash.

Go here: HTCDEV Rom Browser

and download:
AngryBean-VMM.zip
cm-10.1-20130409.zip
and gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip

I will explain these files now.

AngryBean-VMM is Virgin Mobile's visual voicemail app.

cm-10.1-20130409 is the main CM 10.1 (Angry Bean) ROM. (~151 MB)

and gapps-jb contains Google Apps (including Google Now)

___________________________________________________
You will now want to boot into recovery and clear your data, cache and delvic cache.

Then you want to flash cm-10.1-20130409

- Without exiting -

flash AngryBean-VMM

- Still do not exit -

flash gapps-jb-20130301-signed

Now you can boot your device.

Open the voicemail app and configure the app, it will want you to choose the theme and whatever, just skip through all of that until it doesn't pop up with anything more.

Now get back into recovery and re-flash AngryBean-VMM

You should be good to start your phone back up now.

I highly recommend this rom and I think that a lot of good work was put into it, it runs smoothly and has very few bugs.

I give all credit of this rom to g60madman and if you would like to support him, he has a link for donations on his forum post.

Thank you and have fun with your new CM 10.1 EVO V.

Could I get some help please? I just followed remanifest's guide to get everything done at once and it worked great. I activated my phone on the harmonia ROM then I wanted to switch to this ROM. When it comes up it tries to do the activation call. It says the account cannot be validated. But my test call on the harmonia worked... What's going on?
Thanks

The network is undergoing an upgrade, there are intermittent data and voice network drops. you may want to flash back to a sense based rom and call VM and have them manually activate the phone

ya. I really dont believe it. I know they will stay the same or worse. And where are you getting this info from......?????

I'm having the same problem as Dr. Dank, except my data won't even turn on and the phone won't even dial. What should I do?

I finally got around to getting s_off and flashing this ROM last night. Everything is spot on and great.

Got up this morning and realized I couldn't receive texts but 3g/4g and calls were fine. Had this happen on an older VM phone that was stock. Just had to go into settings- update-prl update. Then pull battery and texts were back. Now with my evo 3d on this ROM, I can't find an equivalent option in settings.

Has any one else experienced this? What's the solution? Am I missing something or do I need to flash sense ROM and call virgin/ do it the same I had before.

Thanks

There's some text issues a lot of users have with the more recent versions of the Angry Bean ROM. Which version did you flash? In the Angry Bean thread it seems that the 7/2 build with the 7/3 Mirage kernel update is the most stable. You could also try the sms/mms fix as a user lists in this pos7 (SMS/MMS Fix). If you flash a ROM like Harmonia that uses the HTC messaging app and still have problems then obviously not the ROM that's causing errors if you've gone ahead already and tried that.

To conclude for anyone else that has had this issue. Spent about an hour with VM tech support and didn't resolve anything. So I searched the web and found a few dead ends. Finally I wiped everything and flashed Harmonia most up to date. Almost a hundred texts came flying in. So I updated the prl via the stock sense settings in Harmonia. Again I wiped everything and flashed this ROM. Sure enough SMS/MMS is working for now.

I'll keep searching for a real solution.

Cheers
