Help CM Security and battery drain

erician

Member
LG Volt, 4.4.2, not rooted
Replacing my not even one year old battery seems to have remedied the few problems I'd been having, though there are times where it seems to be draining faster than it should
CM Security sometimes puts up notifications that I have 👎 applications open (41, last time, while I'd only opened a few since last restart)
I may have exercised its optimize function once, cuz ya'd think I'd have learned my lesson when Battery Doctor (I think by CM, as well) wrecked all kinds of problems till I uninstalled it
Could CM Security be screwing things up as well and - if so - is there a security app I -should- be using?
Thx

You don't need to use a security app.
Only download from reliable sources (Google play, Amazon ect....). You are all the security our device needs.

Thanks MLSS

Will uninstall but i should add that I'm pretty certain I downloaded it from Play Store (a "reliable source")

The name 'CM Security' is an absolute joke - but not at all a funny one. Please read the info in this post for the facts behind Cheetah Mobile (aka CM):

There is no app you can install called Common Sense. It's up to you to take necessary care how and what you do online. Antivirus and security apps are generally ineffective or worse. You cannot depend on such stuff to protect you.

Never trust a public WiFi network. Do not do any sensitive work or expose any personal information by such activities as doing business or online banking on public WiFi networks.

Sound advice

I will make it a habit of doing anything of a sensitive nature over data services (or whatchamacallit)

thx to all

You might want to install Snapdragon BatteryGuru. It will help control background app activity. If the play store says it's incompatible, it is available here in the root forum.

Remember that just because an app is "running" in the background, doesn't mean it's actually using up your battery. Android does an incredible job controlling your apps and keeping the most used apps in an idol state so that they can be launched fasted saving you both time and battery.

That's not to say their aren't apps that sit in the background eating ram and battery, but don't asse they all are.
