Root CM6.1 battery issues

So I started using CM in Version 6.0 and loved it. Best ROM I have ever used. I updated to CM6.1RC3 and had terrible battery life. Reverted to a backup of 6.0. Tried CM6.1RC4, same thing. Not I am on RC5 and again terrible battery life. I loose about 15% - 20% batter per hour without any usage on my part. On CM6.0 I would loose about 50% in about 8 hours with talk, text, angry birds ect. Today I downloaded spareparts, checked out other battery usage and saw that Running was 100%. I click on Running and it says Time spent without sleeping: N, where N is the total time I have been off the charger.

So my question is now how do I find out why my phone won't sleep? I have the same apps loaded from 6.0 so I don't believe it is one of my apps. I think there is something in the CM system that is a mess.

You say you're on RC5, have you tried the 6.1 Stable?

Since upgrading today, my battery has been pretty normal from 6.0.

I believe I saw your thread over on the CyanogenMod forum. Just want to make sure, are you doing a wipe? So far, I've got no sleep issues. Running (48.4%) and Screen On (38.7%) As was mentioned, and I'm sure this isn't what you were hoping for, There may just be something going on with an app that was installed that isn't playing nicely with 6.1. I hope you find the culprit!

Hey guys, same problem over here. CM6 no issues but while using CM6.1 RC3 thru the final I have terrible battery life as well. Spare Parts battery history says 100% of the time spent without sleeping. Could this have something to do with it? And my "Android System" is the largest battery drain on my device (always higher than the screen).

Yesterday I did another full wipe and on reboot didn't restore any of my old settings with Titanium Backup. Same issue. Not sure why this is happening but it really sucks. I wish there was someway to see what the system is doing...

After installing this P3 kernel my phone started to sleep like normal. Apparently, at least on my phone, CM6.1 doesn't play nice with the stock OR slahyer kernel. I used the slahyer kernel on 6.0 without any issues whatsoever.

So far, CM 6.1 (final) is working great for me on the Motorola Droid 1. 6.0 had an issue where the stock media player really sucked the life out the battery (I worked around it by using MixZing instead which didn't have the same issue). The 6.1 stock media player seems to have fixed this. My battery performance on CM 6.1 and using the stock media player is comparable to what it was on CM 6.0 using MixZing. I can easily get through 16+ hours on a single battery charge with my typical usage patterns.

I also switched kernels (to a P3 one) and my phone sleeps like it should as well. Thanks for posting your solution!

I switched to a P3 kernel, but I am still having issues. Just browsing for a few minutes drops me from 50 to 40 then to 20% battery, not even stopping at 30.

Something else I have noticed is that if I reboot my phone, the battery level appears a lot higher. For example, I was down to 15% before rebooting. After rebooting I was at 50%. I have seen similar results as well other times.
