Root CM6 boot animation

I've got CM6 on my phone right now and I'm trying to change the boot animation using Root Explorer. I've used Root Explorer to change the boot animation on the stock 2.2 rom. When I try to change the boot animation in CM6 it won't go thru. I know the boot animation is located in system/media/bootanimation.zip and I choose Mount R/W and it still won't change it. Do I have to use another method to change it?

Move bootanimation.zip to /data/local instead. That directory takes priority over /system/media. You can simply push it if you'd like.

thanks! if I put a sound file in there too will it play it a boot. I guess what I want is my DROID boot animation, as cool as the cyanogen one is :) I have to VZW_bootanimation.zip and VZW_droid.mp3 files already. I suppose I can try and put them in and see what happens but in the world of modding that can be dangerous. :P

If I remember correctly, you'd need to push the file as bootanimation.zip, not VZW_bootanimation.zip (I'm assuming this to be a result of cyanogenmod being a ground-up mod, not a Sense/Verizon-based mod.

I don't use boot sound files, but I think the file would be named android_audio.mp3 instead of VZW_droid.mp3. This I am definitely not sure about.

/data/local works for bootanimation.zip but renaming the audio file didn't, must be some other file I need that tells it to play said android_audio.mp3
