Root CM7, 4G and Battery life

For the 1st week after flashing CM7, I had awesome battery life (this was a week and a half ago) I could keep 4g on all day and use it often, and still get through the day. Over the pass few days though the battery life declined a bit and I was wondering if I should calibrate to fix it or if there is something else I should try. GPS is off and the wireless location setting is off as well. Thanks in advance!

Have you rebooted the phone at all? What kernel are you running? You could try a different kernel to see if that works better for you with respect to the battery. I am using IMO's 3.7.1 and seeing decent battery life.

can you give me a quick rundown on how to install a kernal, i know how to flash roms via cwm, but ive never done a kernal and im too lazy to find a tut. thank you :)

Really quick, download the kernel you want to use and verify the md5sum. Boot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, choose install zip from SD, navigate to zip on the SD and flash, reboot

I would add to let the kernel settle after you reboot. The devs say five minutes, but it is really more like about 1 minute after verizon locks unless you have a ton of startup processes, then maybe two minutes. I just set my screen timeout to that and when the lights go out it is ready to go.

Where can I find the kernel? and is the md5sum just the version of radio i have? will a battery stat wipe fix anything? thanks

You download the kernel from wherever the dev hosts them, the "roms, kernels..." thread is a good place to look for them. The MD5 sum has nothing to do with the radio it is a way to verify files, on your phone go to the market and search for AFV, and download AFT (Android File Verifier) to check the md5 sum. Wiping battery stats will fix any reporting errors you may have but it wouldn't increase battery life, you could try it anyways (wipe, charge up full, then drain until empty without charging at all)

I recommend IMO's lean kernel 3.7.1, make sure you use the AOSP version.
