For those who like to try out new roms.

For the VD BASEBAND!!! Only. The Kraven and Me2151 Both have Cm9 for the lg optimus s out.

Though Kraven's is in Alpha5 right now, and me2151 is in beta1.

Kraven(cold as ice) [WIP][ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 3/14 ZVD basesband Alpha5 - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

It is still in alpha, and is not recommended as a daily driver, I am using it as now and not doing to bad.

Me2151(rawrzilla) [BETA][ROM][MIUI] Rawrzilla Beta 1 - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

Is a daily Driver.(havn't tried it yet. but will soon).

Ditto. I tried Kraven's Alpha 8 yesterday and although data, camera, etc. don't work, I was blown away by how cool Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich, ICS) looks and how much functionality it adds. I was also shocked that it actually felt FASTER & snappier (not a scientific study) than Froyo or Gingerbread. (I thought ICS would be too big and demanding for an old phone like the Optimus S and that it would run slowly like trying to run Window 7 on an old 1995-era PC.) I'm guessing that ICS (and/or Cyanogen's CM9 modification of it) had some performance improvements over Froyo & Gingerbread.

I can't wait for one of the ICS ports to get to the point where everything works and it can be used as a daily driver. The other thing that I want to try out is this MIUI Gingerbread port since many think that MIUI is the best UI around (blending the best of Android and iPhone).

Here's some background just in case it helsp anyone else is in my shoes... This past weekend, after 1.25 years on (ZVC to protect my WiFi Hotspot functionality) I finally got the nerve up to root and flash my Optimus S. (Unlike before when I first looked into it, rooting is now ridiculously easy, and the whole process is pretty darned easy too. And it makes your phone so much better-- faster, better UI, more functionality, and more RAM available which means you can run more apps without running out of memory.) I was going to take my phone from ZVC to ZVD to ZVH and load the ZVH-based custom ROM called "HydroROM" like I did for my daughter's phone, but I noticed that Kraven is further along getting ICS onto the ZVD baseband than Drew is in getting ICS onto the ZVH baseband, so I thought I'd at least temporarily stop in at ZVD and give ICS a test drive to see if it would be a deciding factor on staying with ZVD, at least for a while. (It's a bit of a pain in the butt to revert from ZVH to ZVD. Not huge, but I didn't want to bother if I didn't have to since the ZVD-based Reborn ROM basically just as good as the ZVH-based HydroROM.) After playing with Kraven's ICS and seeing how close it is to becoming a daily driver, I decided to stay at ZVD with the Reborn ROM (with which I'm VERY happy) until somebody gets ICS working perfectly. (If that's Drew on ZVH, then I'll "upgrade" to ZVH.)
