Root CM9 Kang ROM?

Hey guys i was just wondering is the CM9 Kang ROM for all prevails? like ive seen some ROMs that would only work on certain prevails..? will CM9 work on my prevail with my 2.3.6 Android / EJ06 Baseband? sorry for sounding like a noob. just wanted to make sure before flashing it to my phone and ending up owning a "brick"

and also as i was reading the Odin (Return phone to stock/factory) thread the other day almost all the links are broken. i wanted to get the FF19 Gingerbread but the only one that would work was EJ06 Gingerbread which is why im running that and not FF19. you know where i could get the FF19 Gingerbread Rooted(like in the post) ?
 
thank you. should i factory reset and start new with ff19 gingerbread and cm9?
and which do you think is better cm9 or ctmod? im just trying to get the absolute best out of this phone
 
Yeah just Odin the ff19 baseband, that'll factory reset the phone. As for which is better, that's entirely up for debate. Just flash each and see what suits you best:)
 
well ive been using ctmod and ive read a few threads on cm and it seems more customizatable with themes and it seems more stable. ill just try them :)
also when i odin the ff19 baseband will that fix some of my problems in my other thread with the over heating and freezing up issues?
 
It might fix that. Only one way to find out for sure. I've been running it and haven't had those problems. And yeah, ctmod is definitely more stable lol
 
Odin the ff19 - worked fine
flashed all 4 files - stuck on boot
Odin the ff19 again and started over - worked fine
flashed cm7 - worked fine
flashed katokernel ext - stuck on boot
why am i getting stuck on boot?

Edit- now its just booting into cwm again and again... i click restart system and boots back into cwm. click restart system and it boots back into cwm..

I know nothing about this rom but usually after flashing or before flashing everything, you need to reformat the sdext or even sometimes repartition the sd card.
 
i tried to reformat the sdext in cwm just says cant reformat sdext

Edit- i flash cm7 then flash the adreno drivers and it works fine. but every time i try to flash the katokernel ext it gets stuck at boot. so im guessing its the katokernel making it do that...

Before flashing new stuff do a factory reset and in cwm wipe data system dalvik and cache then flash the rom and so on!
 
ive done all that already.... its only getting stuck on boot after i flash the katokernel ext. everything else is working fine. im running phone right now without the katokernel ext and its working fine. do i need the katokernel ext?
 
Is your card partitioned?

You may need to repartition it if even cwm can't touch the partition

That kernel mounts the sdext you create as the data partition. If you don't have one then phone thinks itndoesnt have a data partition (which will explain why it won't boot)

For some users.
I had honey bread on ff19. Liked it, couldn't figure out how to recognize the data ext. Useless with a 4gb part.
I tried CT 3.75 final, same thing.
I tried cm7 as suggested here & you suggested elsewhere. It recognized the ext part with no configuring. Loved it. But found glitches I didn't care for.
With cm7 on my phone...
In call volume drastically dropped, even with speaker on. Media & tones were still normal though.
The notification tray froze occasionally when I tried to slide certain notifications off the screen. All I could do was close the tray & reboot to remove the freeze.
System would crash & give a force close occasionally.
Zeam would do the same.
And if you use Palringo Chat app, the names containing emoji (I have emoji replacement font in my phone) would be jumbled up & not display correctly (but worked fine on other roms).
So I found out 2 days ago that last month Bloodawn made an updated rom (ctmod 3.8).
I switched to that, love it, everything's normal again except for the in call volume. And I did need to go to the kernel settings & switch it to data for the ext pare as internal. But no big deal, at least it recognizes it.
So as I said, other phones may have better luck. And I know we've talked about this LordVincent, but I figured I'd add my exp here for others to know, even if they don't get the glitches.
