Root Cm9?

So will the evo be getting cm9 or is it just not possible to run with our limitations? Right now im running cm7 at the most recent update from when I last checked. Which was about a month ago, before that all of the Rom zips had mysteriously disappeared from the cyanogen wiki. Something that's been puzzling me is where exactly is cm8 or does it just go in 2s?

I don't think there will be official CM9 support for the EVO but there are plenty of ICS based ROMs out there.
CM8 would have been a Honeycomb/3.0 based ROM so that's the reason they skipped over it. I don't believe they ever produced one.

We have cm9, but it's unofficial. Papa smurfs is pretty nice, got some tweaks built in. But it takes forever to boot up. Jim Taylor has a cm9 port that is outstanding and everyone who isn't building from source is pretty much using that as a base. If you want cm9 just go to xdas evo 4g development section. Plenty to choose from.

im actually keeping my disyance from XDA. blockign all sprint users seems a little sketch.

What do you mean blocking all sprint users?

If you are talking about trying to register over a mobile device then yeah its blocked. Most of the forums are run that way and its completely normal and justified. They want your actual ip address on file in case you start trouble.

After you register successfully you can access it via mobile

there are plenty of Sprint users on xda. you need to register on a pc though as they track your ip for multiple accounts I think.

There is a thread on here for the Strike rom by Savoca. check that out here or at tincandroid.

CM9 probably won't be/is officially not being supported due to too many things broken, 4G ffc. htc with holding source or not having source available makes it too time consuming to develop for the Cyanogen team.

my phone is my only source of internet, this forum didnt pull that bull with me. so i won't use one that does.

Savoca's Strike ROM is the best ICS rom out there on the OG. No doubt about it. I was running it the other day and have flashed over to Jmz's unofficial CM9 nightly from 8/15. There is no comparison. Savoca's build doesn't have as many bells and whistles, but the performance is significantly better.

It doesn't allow through tapatalk either I have tried. I can do it on my computer because that's sprint too.

Go somewhere that has wifi and register on your phone. That should work.

Yup, you know what my bad I registered on wifi through dolphin browser. I remember now, that's what tapatalk directed me to do. But I do remember getting denied on a 3g connection straight through the xda app even though it has a register button right on it.

It's honestly the most rediculous thing I've seen. I have never, ever. Seen a forum block an entire provider, at least not an American one.

Its not just sprint. They block you from registering from any mobile IP.

Like I explained before, there are very good reasons for this.

Its really not bad

well I think it is, it seems very shady. if somebody posts a link to warez or other illegal material banning their username and e-mail would do the trick unless they were as persistent as asian gold farmers.

That was the problem though people would just sign up with a new user name and email, as it ain't so hard to make up new ones. So it came down to tracking ip addresses to prevent such users from abusing the system.

The problem is it's very easy to create a new email. As many as you want really.

When someone gets banned, its their ip address that gets banned. The problem is you don't have 1 set ip when on a mobile device. To counter this, they make you sign up using a normal internet connection so they can ban you if the need arises.

From personal experience while being here, xda's policy is a very good one.
