College App

[ironcruz92]

Hello everyone. This is my first thread in this forum. I need help regarding an android application on COLLEGE. I'm developing an app for my college as my engineering final year project. The app will be similar to this. But I'm not able to explain my project coordinator, that how this app is useful than official college website? Can you please tell me some of the key points that i can add to my presentation so that, it can attract some kind of attention and bring smile on his face . Also can you please suggest some impressive features that i can add to this application?

Well for starters, if you can set it to notify you of school announcements and changes in schedules and stuff on your phone or tablet, that alone makes it better than the school website. I'm in a med school so we don't have app devs, but as part of the school newsletter we maintain the school's Google Calendar and its very convenient for the students to know the schedules of exams, if they are moved, or of plenary lectures etc. The downside is that there are no notifications on changes and announcements the way an app can do it. We have to use old fashioned SMS to notify a couple of hundred people.

Your school's website is inferior in a way that a person still has to consciously access it every now and then to check, unlike an app which can poll for new stuff and alert you. Plus an app would have a better UI than a website for a mobile device.
