Colored Text Messages

Looking on the internet, it seems that the iPhone can send different colored font and backgrounds in their sms messages. I don't mean changing the display bubbles that are shown on your phone, but the ability to actually change the color in the sent text message.

I tried one app a few weeks ago, and I can't remember what is was called, that did change the font and background colors, but when you sent it, the message was sent as an MMS, which costs money (or it does where I live)

Does anyone know if there is an Android app (ideally free) that can change the font and/or background color in a sms message, without converting it to an MMS? Or, is it the case that if you change the font color, it will always have to be sent as an MMS?

Thanks

It won't really matter since in the end, the other person's settings on his/her phone will dictate the color of the text you sent. For example, I have Go SMS Pro set to black text, you can force it to show blue text on your messages, whatever app you use, because its my phone's settings. This may be possible though if you and the receiver have the same app that allows this, but I have heard of nothing that supports this. This is possible on an iPhone because they don't have font and color settings in the SMS app that I know of, so they can't force it to show something like we do on Android, and thus only follows the settings in the message they receive.

That makes sense about the other persons phone dictating the settings. It also makes sense now why that app I tried needed to send it as an MMS, if it didn't send it as a picture, then the other phone's settings would over ride it.

Thanks for that
