Colour-bind, and having trouble with my Android

bebops

Lurker
Hi (to whoever reads this...)
I just got an Android cell phone recently, and I love it. I can organize my life, surf the web -it's great.:)
One little problem that I have with the interface though, is the gray-box with the thin blue check-mark tick that is used for a lot of the system apps (e.g. settings). I often have trouble telling whether the box is checked or not, and I'm guessing it's because I'm colour-blind.
There's another check-box that is often used with a larger green check mark (I can't remember where) which I can see much more clearly.

Just putting that out there... if the next update could get rid of the faint-blue check-mark it'd make things much more convenient for people like me.
thanks!

Hello and welcome to Android Forums! :)

Sometimes it's hard for interface designers to realize what looks good to some may be a hindrance to those people who have limitations such as yourself. That is something you really need to point tout to both the handset manufacturer, in case it was an 'enhancement' they put in their user interface or directly to Google. (sorry, couldn't find a link directly to the Android development team)

Welcome to the forums!

I am sorry that you are having issues with your device. If you let us know what device you have, we may be able to suggest ideas you could do to make things a little easier for you!!

Hi guys,
thanks for the reply.
I'm using an HTC wildfire, but I think this is a generic feature of the software, and I don't really want to go messing around with the "settings" app, as I'm guessing it's pretty fundamental to the functioning of the machine.

And it's really not a catastrophe -I'm still happy with the phone, but I just figure it's possible somebody out there in developer world might notice it, and pass it on. BTW, the other check mark is in the "Market" app - it's a white background with a thick green check mark and I have absolutely no problem seeing it clear as day.
But in settings->wireless&networks (for example) next to Wi-Fi and airplane mode (etc.) theres this thin blue line that I find hard to make out sometimes.

Just putting that out there -still love the phone!
Merry christmas.

Good to know that you still like the phone, even though it seems that it can be a bit of a pain!

Merry Christmas!
