Comics, why such a hassle?

I like to view the comics (not graphic novels) on my phone when I get some free time during the day. I use to use Daily Strip but after an update, most of the comics stopped loading, then Daily Strip was pulled from the market. Sucked because Daily Strip had the best interface.

So then I started using Comic Reader by "applications4android". It was OK, but today I find that most of my comics do not load.

Why are publishers so against people reading comics on our phone?
 
If any are released via RSS feeds then you could try a dedicated RSS reader like pulse to see if that will work better than the current one you are using. I believe that the dev would need to license the comic to use it within his app, yeah I know you can find it online easy but it is much easier to have an app that has them all in one place. It would just take one publisher to claim copyright infringement to have google remove the app, they would then forward the reason why it was pulled to the dev and they could either dispute the claim, remove the offending content, or accept and keep the app off the market. The publisher could contact the dev directly and they would need to do the same or face getting sued.

Daily comic strips are rooted in newspapers, every day that industry shrinks and everyone who is involved is slowly losing all they have, when devs put out something that circumvents the current model and does not have the appropriate license to distribute the content it directly affects the bank accounts of the content owners, at the current rate of decline within the industry the costs to distribute the content will eventually be greater than the revenue coming in and they will have to close up shop, partially due to apps like these.

I still have the apk. I really liked it the best for viewing comics. Would be great if I could edit the database so I could make it load up the comics I like. Sadly my coding skill are at a pre newbie level.:(
 
^ Bingo. Not sure why Android users seem to think that copyrighted material should be distrbuted for free without compensating the copyright owner.
