How about posting some pics of comparison with different cameras?
Today I shot the same flower with the S7 Edge, Nikon D7100 & Nikon P600 SuperZoom.
S7 Edge
Nikon D7100
Nikon P600 SuperZoom
The S7 Edge seems to hold it's own... I think I'll leave my Nikon D7100 wide angle lens at home and just leave the Nikkor 80-400mm lens on the Nikon D7100 and use the S7 Edge for the wide angle shots.

My SX50 images look soft (even after post processing and applying USM) after using my S7 exclusively for a month. But like you, it's a case of "the best camera is the one you have with you". I never have taken my SX50 with me wherever I go. My phone DOES go with me wherever I go and the S7 is more than adequate for 90% of my shots. If I'm out and see a picture I'd like to have but it requires a super zoom camera, oh well, I wouldn't have gotten it anyway because more than likely I wouldn't have my super zoom with me. Maybe some day, you'll be able to catch THIS (at 25 ft) with a cell phone
