Help Compass Issues

Been having a weird issue with the compass since day one with the razr. If I open google maps, the compass has me facing West, however, It is facing north. But, if I open the app GPS Status (or even Motorolas built in GPS app), it properly displays me as facing North. Google Maps will never show the proper compass direction. Does anyone know what is up with this? Is there a setting that I missed? Thanks!

It appears to be an issue with the latest build (5.12.0) of Google Maps. Since I've installed this version on my DX2, East and West are now inverted, all was fine prior to this version.

There is nothing wrong with the calibration of the phone, as it works perfectly in GPS Status. So is this a known issue in Google Maps?

I only have a few more days to take the phone back. If it's a google problem maybe I should hold off? Google Maps compass and google sky map will not show the correct direction but compass apps all rotate properly.

I noticed a Google maps update today that had fixes for 'newer phone models' but my phone still doesn't know which way it is pointing in g-maps. Other compass/gps apps seem to know which way they are pointing.

No........... there is a north up or facing direction toggle on the screen. On my OG Droid its the top left round compass looking thingy.

Tap it and see. You will get a red & white indicator on the map. Tap it to rotate and again to hide it.

Its just opening to a default you do not want. I believe it will learn what you like.
