All I want is a compass that works on my Samsung Galaxy Centura. Any help out there with this?

Although it's hard to find a definitive answer, I've not found any resource which I trust which says that this phone includes a magnetometer, and a number of discussions and user reviews which say that it does not.
Unfortunately if it doesn't have a magnetometer then no compass app can work - there's nothing software can do if it doesn't have the hardware in the first place.
