Compatible Charging/Sync Docking Cradle

I posted this at another forum too, but I thought I'd share with you guys as well, since you're a great community too!

After doing some product dimension comparisons and research, I ordered a cradle that I thought might be compatible with our Optimus V phone, as a cheaper alternative to the LG Vortex cradle.

I present the Fosmon LG enV 2 (VX9100) Cradle

Notes:

• It MAY work with a case and WILL work without a case (works with my Body Glove Buttonless case, but have one report of it not working with the full Body Glove case).

• Hi-Speed USB 2.0 transfers. (I believe the LG Vortex cradle only does USB 1.0 transfer speeds)

• Has a charging LED to notify you that it's, *gasp*, charging.

• There is a Sync ---- Charger switch on the bottom so that if you want to use the USB just for charging, your computer/android won't pop-up with notifications about USB mode.

• The device stays in place just fine without the clear plastic holder that it comes with. The plastic piece prevents the phone from fitting, but it is meant to be removable so you can just pop it right off.

This is great except I would be concerned with the torque of the phone breaking the micro USB. How much suport, if any, does the cradle provide from behind to prevent the phone being pushed over?

With the case that I have, when you put the phone on the dock there's very little play going backwards as the phone's bottom rests against the back wall, which is half-an-inch high. In my opinion, it seems sturdy enough to not break.

If you don't use a case, then you can cut the sides off of the clear plastic piece and it will fit perfectly with back support. Here's a picture I took for example:

Can you post a picture of your phone in the BodyGlove case actually on the charger? I use a BodyGlove on my Optimus also, and if it fits and works in this cradle, I'll probably get it. Also, where did the clear plastic piece you modified come from?

How do you remove that clear plastic shield as shown in one of your pics, without breaking it? My phone in it's bodyglove won't fit with the shield.

Shield came off, will not work with Body glove case. Case is too thick to let the phone deep enough into the groove to get the USB cable to make good contact. Will work ok with a nekkid phone.

Eeeek... I didn't realize that the buttoned Body Glove case would be thicker. I updated my original post with your result, and I apologize for the misinformation.

If it helps, I tried about two other cradles from them before I found this one and they were good with returns, although you'd have to pay to ship it back and don't get refunded the their shipping costs. =\

Check Google Shopping, I found two places with them (supposedly) in stock for about $20, I'll probably pick one up later this month. Thanks for the info.

Edit: The ones found have a battery charger built in as well, however based on the pictures, that part will not work with our batteries, but the dock should.
