complete n00b at work id like to put stock everything back how do i do that? the menu works intermittantly and it says cant mount /sdcard/!

i have searched and searched but nada i have the phone in a working CWM state right now

Hello and welcome to the forums . now on your SD card in cwm you need to mount the SD card and data on SD card will show .

And to operations of clockworkmod needs to function from either the power button and the volume up/down. The volume up/down will be your way to make selection up and down . and the power button will make the selection. Such as your enter button on your computer . now you need a ROM on the SD card . to flash the ROM you will need to wipe data, cache but what ever you do please DONT HIT YES ON WIPING THE SD CARD. This will will clean your SD card of all contents .

OK you need to format the SD card . but can I ask did u remove the SD card while The phone was powered on

okay thank you for helping me

im getting kitkat ui version 2

when you say format the sd do i need to format it to fat32 then put this rom on it or do i format to ntfs and then put this zipped rom on it ??

ive formatted via a pc as the sdcard isnt mountable in cwm and its still crashing on me but ill keep trying ..

finally got it to boot into a working state BUT the sd isnt readable how do i make it so that its readable ?

i think this might be wrong i think i need a new recovery software but i dont know and dont know how to do that ...

No format in the phone with the clockworkmod what kind of card u got well if u like we can clear it all out but that's more work . if u can get a ROM to run it will update the clockwork mod

Hi,

Original poster has Samsung Galaxy ACE GT-S5830i

Link to ROM is for Samsung Galaxy ACE GT-S5830

Will ROM work on Samsung Galaxy ACE GT-S5830i?

oh ^^^ Looks above..

also im unable to mount the sd card in the phone so cannot format in the phone either i have tried

the sd card is a "micro sd HC class4 8GB co8g japan"

okay in the menu i wiped cahe or whatever on everything and rebooted now stuck on Samsung Galaxy ace GT-s5830i start up screen for over 10 minutes while plugged into the laptop so it has charge ideas guys an girls ?

This is a mess. First of all the OP has an S5830i, and the links are being provided for the S5830, these two phones may have the same name but they have an entirely different chipset.
Flashing that kitkat ui rom built for S5830 on a S5830i will most likely brick the device.

Secondly, if you are unable to use the sd card in the phone even after formatting(you can format via pc or phone, not much difference but make sure its fat32), then i'd suggest you try a different sd card, this one might have gotten corrupted.
If you are unable to use the recovery altogether then i'd suggest you flash a stock samsung firmware via Odin.

Now i don't own a S5830i so i don't have the links for latest tutorials but this is what i have, although its quite old. You can look for latest versions of the programs on the net.

The reason you are unable to boot into the rom is because your rom is not working, you need to flash a working rom via recovery first.
Look for compatible roms here ->Galaxy Ace S5830i Android Development - xda-developers

Hi, I soft bricked my S5830i and used the following tutorial to unbrick it:-
[TUTORIAL] Unbrick/Firmware restore | Flash GUIDE | ROM List & REVIEWS [09/11/2012] - xda-developers
It worked well and it also restored my IEMI number that got lost when I installed the Jellyblast ROM. The only issue I had was getting my PC to see my phone, tried a few things in the end used a different phone to USB cable to connect to my PC and that seemed to do the trick.
I was excited when I followed the link to the KitKat ROM as it looked good and was being updated, until I noticed it was for the S5830 :-((
You only have to read a few posts to see how much confusion Samsung have created using the same name for both the S5830 and S5830i!!

its far to complicated is there no mode i can put it into or something thats upto date everything is all over the place and theres a million adverts everywhere you look adverts what am i meant to do this is crazy

im either stuck at a samsun galaxy gt-s5830i screen or i go to download mode either of which my pc will not pick up the phone its an unknown usb device oh jeezz

maybe someone can help i tried the video but thats not worked this phone in normal mode was never plugged onto the laptop before so this laptop dosent know this phone and kies and samsung usb drivers dont work because of the wrong mode that the phone is in bonkers lol...

even the back up software on the phone crashes when i use that too cwm 5 that crashes too it works intermittently :(

I believe the only option is to follow the tutorial at the link in my post.
Go slowly and ignore the adverts!
It worked for me in the end.
I had the same problem as you with regards to the phone not being recognised.
As well as using a different phone to USB cable, I also tried different USB sockets on my PC. Rebooted PC, just kept trying not a 100% sure why but in the end the PC recognised the phone as a modem and then the tutorial was relatively plain sailing and I now have a fully funtioning phone.

Maybe if you was to get the USB drivers on the PC so the PC/laptop will see the phone . that was the whole purpose to get a ROM on the device so u can get USB debugging and drivers.

Now you confused the op saying that ROM wouldn't work if you would READ it said it works for both versions the 5830 and the 5830i . I was trying to confuse him it wasn't bricked all he needed to do was get a ROM on a working SD card . now did the op get the device restore to the working way as it should have been . but in the future you can use that ROM .it wasn't going to mess up the lost imei . any more information or help I try my best but some users need to READ before answering.

I saw this:-
XDA:DevDB Information
CM10.1.6 KITKAT UI(4.4), a ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830

at the link you posted, says it's for the S5830.
Where does it say it will also work with the S5830i??

And if it didn't say its a custom ROM all it was needed to do was get drivers to get PC/laptop to see the device via USB adb and enable USB debbing

Now this is to help the op not to keep showing you about a ROM . we are here to help each other . so now did the op get the device working .

so these are the install instructions on that site that the user brainz2013 said to look at for other users

1.Reboot into recovery
2.Wipe data/factory reset
3.Wipe cache
4.Go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache
5.Install zip from SD-Card
6.Choose zip from SD
7.Flash the zip
8.Reboot done !!!

OK you wiped everything now did you put the ROM back on the SD card and flash the zip to get out of clockworkmod recovery . and you Dont need device to remain plugged to PC you can let it reboot and flash without being hooked up
