First time in a forum like this, be gentle...

I have had my Captivate for over 5 months and love it. So very glad I went with it instead of the iphone 4G I was looking at! However... I cant seem to get my head around just what I need to do with my movies in order to get them to load up onto my phone.

Short history, I have used iTunes for more than 2 years so almost all I have is on it. I have other digital copies of movies I have yet to load onto my computer, as I am waiting to see if I FINALLY figure it out for the Captivate.

I used Kies for a while but found it to be very frustrating and now have the phone set on USB Mass Storage so I can get to the files. My problem is this: Is there a specific format for the movies to be uploaded and watchable on my phone? I have tried multiple times and failed even though I am confident I am doing it correctly and have tried more than one file type.

Help me love my Captivate more! Id be so much more happy to be able to watch my movies and listen to music on it and do away with my iTouch all together.

Another program you might be able to use to sync between your phone and your Captivate is iSyncr.

In terms of format I'd suggest sticking with MP4 files...

Thank you! I will look into that program though, probably in the morning.

Did try the MP4, and it tells me "Sorry, this video cannot be played." Ive tried AVI files as well and nothing works. I know I can upload the movies, did it once and it worked but the file vanished from my sd card. Will keep trying though.

According to Samsung your phone should support MP4, AAC, AAC+, H.263, and H.264 encoding of video.

If MP4 failed before you might want to look at how the MP4 file was created. It's possible that the program used to create the MP4 file may have had issues during the conversion.
