Root completly new to this

Hey guys, I am completely new to the world of rooting but i have decided I want to root my incredible. I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on what rom to go with. I kinda like the look of the nils business gingersense but that is the only one i have looked at so far.

Also, I have literally no idea on how to do this, if someone can show me where to go to figure out how to do this, that would be great.

I did look at those but i guess my main question is is there something special i need to do to use the nils business gingersense? on the download site it mentions needing certain programs.
