Computer can't find

[Android Question]

I hooked my HTC Vivid up to my laptop and the phone will charge but I can't find the device anywhere in the computer. It's as if the phone isn't even hooked up to the computer. What can I do to fix this problem so I can get my music from phone to computer. Please and thank you very much.

When you plug the phone into the PC does a notification pop-up on the phone about what you wish to do with USB?
