Help Computer does not recognize phone

I have two Samsung S3 phones the first one no problem plug it in usb and computer sees it. The second one I get an error USB device has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it I have tried to uninstall usb drivers and reinstall but nothing. I have debugging on for both of the phones. Both phones have same software. Whats going on.

I should note that a few weeks ago I had some one replace the charging port. This is the first time that I have tired to connect it to my computer even before the charging port replacement I had never connected it.

I think you just solved the problem.
the port is defective, and the data link is not making it thru to the PC

you can use an app that will transfer via WiFi

ASUS File Manager is great for that purpose.
ASUS File Manager - Android Apps on Google Play

make a folder on the PC shared and make sure the PC has a password, have it appear on a WiFi signal and make sure the bad phone connects to the same WiFi signal.

then bring up ASUS File Manager, top left corner, hit the menu and search for Networks, you should see the PC as one of the ones that is available.

when that happens, exit back to the main screen, then pick out a category, same Images, and then search thru to see what you want to transfer. select them, go to the top right corner and hit the 3 dot menu, select "copy to" then select "Networks" and highlight the PC, then it will show the shared folders on the PC

tell it OK and wait...
