Help Confused!! Does anyone elses phone do this?

When I receive a text (even if i haven't touched my screen for ages and the screen is locked) the whole text message with all the words and who its from will scroll across the screen to show its arrived.

All i want is a sound and an envelope ikon! Not the whole message for anyone sitting near the phone to read!

Is everyone else's phone like this? Can anyone help pleaseeeeee????

Thank you!

ps. i have not installed any apps at all - i am just using the normal phone's text message system.

i didnt think the stock messaging app had the ability to display the whole text across the top. That definitely sounds like a 3rd party sms app but I could be wrong.

I'm using the messaging app that came with the phone, and my texts do scroll across the top when I receive them. I would also like to disable this.

Hit messages, settings, scroll down to notification and unselect. But it seems to shut off all the alerts.

Switch to GoSMS and you can make it do whatever you want. I have mine to notify with a ringtone and put an icon in the notification bar, and that's it. You can have it do even less. You have the option to have the scrolling message at the top, or just show the icon.

nyydynasty - the people ive spoken to haven't thought their phone did this either as the writing is small and right at the very top and doesnt stay for long. Ive come to the conclusion tonight everyones phone must do it i think!
