Root Confused guys help :(

I just got a HTC wildfire already got a (LG 2x running cm7) and i read about rooting using revork? Or something?

Ok so I see people saying don't use rom manager why is this? And is there any alternatives?

Rom manager has caused far too many problems and therefore, that's why it isn't recommended.
