You may need to update your computer for mtp. It may also be a setting on the phone to check. It's like this with my sanza clip.

Phone gives me only two options mtp n camera...n thr is nothing i can choose in pc

Well, i dont know if this will need to be done for the phone but on MTP devices sometimes you have to do this:

If its showing up as MTP on your computer still...you can try plugging in your device and going to device manager (assuming you're using windows), find your phone showing as MTP, right click on it and update driver, it if prompts you select no and then install from a list of drivers, then dont search i will choose the driver, check the box next to show compatible hardware, select usb mass storage.

Not using S3 but have S2 so assume concept should be similar.

With MTP connection, if you go to MyComputer (PC), you can see a phone icon. Tap on that which brings you to the phone memory which you can browse and edit the files / folders.

For mass storage connection, S2 has that in the Settings/Wireless & Network/USB Utilities where you tap the icon before connecting the USB cable. ICS has it in a different location but the steps should be the same.
