connect eris to computer using bluetooth

i have a hp pavilion dv6000 (... i know its ancient ) i am trying to connect it to my computer via bluetooth but neither devices are registering the other. ... my question is "is there any benefits to having them connected such as moving files and what not. even if i could get them paired would there be any actual reason to even try?"

There is a file missing on the phone and it cannot be loaded until the phone gets rooted.
