Connecting Android to the net

Hope this is the right place. My searches have come up empty.
I have an Atrix I'm trying to connect to the net through my router. It will connect, but sporadically - disconnecting 5-10 times a day, sometimes for a minute or two, sometimes for 10-15 minutes. Same is true of my wife's Atrix and our Android (Toshiba) tablet. Windows PCs and an iPhone NEVER lose connection. A friend's windows-based phone connects quickly and never loses connection. I'm presuming, since all Androids lose connection and all non-Android devices never lose connection, the problem is with Android. The network can "see" all Android devices.
I've tried 2 Netgear modems and a Linksys. Same problem with all 3.
FWIW, I have an Engenius AP connected to the router. All non-Android devices connect. No Android devices connect. The Android devices SAY they are connected ( "Connected to ----") but the status bar icon does not indicate connection and no Android devices can, for example, call up a web page.
Netgear, Linksys, and Engenius have been unable to suggest a setting to gain or maintain connection. Is there a special setting for Android phones?
