Help Connecting to a AD HOC WIFI network

Is there any app or ROM that has been modified to allow for connection to a PC generated Ad Hoc network to allow the phone to use the PC's internet connection? Sometimes called reverse tehtering (through wifi, not usb) or an app that allows USB reverse tethering?

I have found several posts that have bits and pieces of the how-to using ADB push/pull of various WIFI related files, but nothing with enough detail for me to figure out.

Windows Vista and XP laptops. The wpa_supplicant.conf file is located in the /system/etc/wifi folder, but the tiwlan file is not there. Must be an alternative system in the Desire.
