Help Connecting to car radio via 3.5mm aux cable

Hi,
When I connect my Ace Plus to my car's stereo via the 3.5mm aux player I only get sound from the phone NOT the radio. If I connect my wife's Galaxy Ace in exactly the same way I get audio output from the car radio.
Can anyone advise please? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Max,
Sorry but not really. If I start playing music on the phone and then connect the aux cable and then wiggle the cable in and out of the socket for a while, eventually it will connect. Have tried several differnt cables but they make no difference. I think the 3.5mm socket in my phone is dodgy!!
